At The Coventry Transport Museum your job would be to ensure visitors receive a good impression of the museum and galleries. You would contribute at all times to the general upkeep of the building by reporting significant items of concern to the Venue Manager.

We are currently looking to recruit 2 enthusiastic and reliable Cleaning Assistants to join our growing team at The Coventry Transport Museum in Coventry.

The successful applicants will be responsible for providing a professional cleaning service with an ability to undertake manual tasks to ensure a hygienic clean to all public areas. As a CVLife cleaner you will be dependable and take pride in your work and deliver a consistent service.

Duties will include:

  • Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floor spaces.
  • Sanitising and polishing surfaces.
  • Cleaning facilities as required.

Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.

We are looking for someone with a can-do attitude, a team player spirit and who can also use their own initiative and is willing to help in all areas when needed.

Position 1: Shifts are: Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fr, Sat: 8.00 -10.00

Position 2: Shifts are: Wed, Thurs, Fri: 15:45 – 17:45. Sun: 8:00 – 10:00.

Job Description

Reporting to: Venue Manager


Culture Coventry Trust and Coventry Sports Foundation are operating as CV Life, so that the scope of this Job Description as a CV Life document extends to cover the employment of employment contracts held with either Culture Coventry Trust or Coventry Sports Foundation.

Overall purpose and objective of the role

To ensure all public areas are cleaned to a high standard to ensure visitors receive a good impression of the museum and galleries.

To contribute at all times to the general upkeep of the buildings by reporting significant items of concern to the Venue Manager.

Main duties of the role:

  1. Carry out cleaning work to required standards as directed by the Venue Manager.
  2. Use only appropriate and approved cleaning materials in the following area: buildings, interpretive display, public toilets and collection items.
  3. Ensure that the areas for which you are responsible are clean and presentable to the required standard.
  4. To hoover carpets; dust surfaces; skirting, window ledges, radiators, pipes etc; empty bins; wet mop floors to agreed standard.
  5. To clean basins and toilets to agreed standard and restock all consumables (soap, toilet rolls, paper towels) in public and staff toilets.
  6. To clean allotted in and outdoor areas on a day to day basis, as required and directed.
  7. To undertake other specific cleaning duties as required/directed
  8. To use safe methods of work and comply with the Health and Safety Policy of the Trust.
  9. Monitor the performance of the cleaning materials to ensure the Trust is receiving value for money.
  10. To stock check supplies and cleaning materials and report replenishment requirements to the Venue Manager.
  11. To ensure facilities are functional, in conjunction with and as directed by the Venue Manager.
  12. To check fixtures and fittings on a daily basis for damage to ensure they comply with the Trust’s H&S policy.
  13. Operate equipment and use chemicals only as directed by a competent person in agreement with Venue Manager.
  14. Seek to ensure the security of the building and the collection by means of:  Compliance with prescribed procedures for locking and unlocking the premises and the security of keys; Setting and un-setting alarm systems as required.

  • Able to understand verbal and written instructions, including risk assessments, policies, product labels etc.
