CV Life are looking to recruit an experienced and passionate educator to join our successful the Engage! Educational and Community Programme.

CV Life operates premium leisure and cultural facilities for use by all communities in Coventry and visitors to the city, offering everything from attractions, museums, leisure centres, educational programmes to community outreach projects.

This is an exciting opportunity to be a Senior Community & Sport Educator to organise, facilitate and deliver our city-wide initiative. The roles involves engaging with young people in schools in the delivery of our ‘Engage’ Educational and Community Programmes.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Has some experience of working with young people and enjoys creating positive experiences.
  • Confident to deliver the ‘Engage’ sports programme in schools by presenting to children and young people.
  • A minimum of 1 recognised NGB qualification or equivalent at level 2 is essential
  • Ability to travel across a number of sites in Coventry & Warwickshire during your working week.
  • Experience of coaching/teaching young people would be an advantage.

It is essential that the successful candidate has the ability to travel between schools and facilities during work hours and a flexible attitude to working events out of core hours is essential.

Job Description

Reporting to: Education & Curriculum Manager

Scope

Coventry Sports Foundation and Culture Coventry Trust are operating as CV Life, so that the scope of this Job Description as a CV Life document extends to cover the employment contracts held with either Coventry Sports Foundation or Culture Coventry Trust.

Overall purpose and objective of the role

To lead the organisation, development and delivery of all aspects of the Schools’ PE Programmes and community delivery.

Main duties of the role:

  1. To build an innovative and balanced physical education curriculum plan and Out of School Hours Learning offer
  2. To always deliver coaching lessons in a manner consistent with sound coaching principles and adhering to each schools PE plan and lesson plans
  3. To support the collection of data and evidencing spend and impact of sport premium
  4. To maintain all administrative records relating to coaching sessions, contacts, and programme development.
  5. To lead on the development of in-centre activities and holiday camps
  6. To coordinator small community projects
  7. To attend meetings, events, activities and wider initiates in the community
  8. To actively support the delivery of a school contract
  9. To support in assessment of monitoring and evaluation
  10. To be on working groups where required
  11. To deliver staff training
  12. Provide feedback and work with school teacher to support improvement PE delivery and liaise with senior staff within school
  13. To produce planning, preparation and assessment of sessions
  14. To lead on Sports Leaders training
  15. To complete data reports where required
  16. To support the development of Modern Apprentices
  17. To continue with self-development to progress through the Community Development structure at CV Life.
  18. To attend annual progress reviews

Essential Knowledge and Experience

  • Ability to adapt sessions appropriately dependent on the needs of the group
  • Experience of planning and delivering sports coaching in curriculum time or out of school hours learning provision.
  • Good understanding of safeguarding, health and safety and sports equity principles, policies and procedures
  • Experience of working with disadvantaged groups.
  • Experience of working with special needs children.
  • Understanding of PE delivery in schools.
  • Understanding the needs of local communities
  • Organisation of competitions.
  • Knowledge of relevant national governing body programmes, policies, and procedures.
  • Experience of monitoring and evaluation of sessions.
  • Experience of writing and reviewing lesson plans

Essential Qualifications

  • A minimum of 1 recognised level 2  NGB qualification or equivalent
  • GCSE Maths/English grade 6
  • Degree in Sport/Education or equivalent

  • Ability to adapt sessions appropriately dependent on the needs of the group
  • Ability to plan & deliver high quality, varied & effective coaching sessions
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • The ability to inspire confidence and motivate participants
  • Organisational, planning and administration skills

Special Circumstances

  • To have the ability to travel between sites and transport equipment between schools and facilities during work hours.
  • Early mornings, evenings and weekends working required at times
  • Enhanced DBS Clearance
  • Requirement to be female due to the nature of the work and the customer base.
