The renovated fitness suite at The Alan Higgs Centre is now open and is bigger and better than ever.
The opening comes just in time for Christmas and the new year to kickstart fitness after December’s festivities.
The Alan Higgs Centre was built just over 15 years ago and the centre is now undergoing the renovations and receiving the fantastic additions it deserves like the up and coming 50m pool.
The newly renovated and expanded fitness suite boasts new state-of-the-art Technogym equipment, over 100 fitness stations, functional training area, a fully immersive indoor group cycling room and fantastic classes including those from the world renowned Les Mills.
The updated facility will also be showcasing their new seamless digital experience just like at The Wave. This will allow members to use their wellness bands to enter the facility.
Chris Panter, Senior Manager for Lifestyles Health and Fitness at CV Life, said: “I’m so excited about the opening of the fitness suite at The Alan Higgs Centre. The technology in there is fantastic; you can watch Netflix and YouTube whilst you work out, providing the ultimate motivation.
“We want nothing but the highest standard for our members at CV Life centres and this renovation is definitely providing that. With over 100 fitness stations, a functional training area, classes and more, there is something to probe everyone’s interest in fitness and perhaps spark the new fitness journeys we hope to see in the new year.
“Whilst we are providing for the whole of the city, we also want to ensure that we engage with those that have differing wellness needs and abilities. With the variety of equipment and classes available, our new gym definitely does this.”
The centre has received some serious investment from Coventry City Council and Sport England. £13.5 million has been spent updating the gym and fitness suite along with the health suite, re-locating the 3G indoor pitch and creating an Olympic sized 50m swimming pool.
The new indoor 3G facility opened last year and kick-started the developments at the centre. The 50m pool and health suite are also progressing nicely and will be opening in 2020.
Paul Breed, Chief Executive of CV Life, said “The Alan Higgs Centre is one of many great sporting facilities that CV Life operate in Coventry. The fitness suite looks great and is a perfect reflection of how the rest of the building will look when work is complete.
“The opening of the fitness suite has made us even more excited about the opening of the rest of the facility and not forgetting our new 3G pitches that are already open and available to use. We really are creating fantastic opportunities city-wide for people to change their lifestyle and become more active.”
Not only is this another great sporting addition for CV Life after the recent opening of The Wave’s waterpark and Lifestyles gym, it also falls perfectly at the end of Coventry’s year as European City of Sport.
