CV Life’s Engage! mascot design competition open now for children across Coventry and Warwickshire

A Coventry initiative which helps children manage their mental health and physical wellbeing through the power of sport is holding a mascot competition open to schools in the region.

CV Life’s Engage! programme has been delivering workshops and events in schools in Coventry for a number of years. The aim of the programme is to enrich the lives of people and communities and help youngsters understand the importance of their mental health earlier in life – all using the core values of the sport of rugby.

It is now hoped the organisation can get more schools and children involved across Coventry and Warwickshire by holding a design a mascot competition open to all youngsters across the area.

The child whose design wins the competition will win a family pass to The Wave for four people and an Engage rugby ball, as well as six weeks worth of the Engage! Values programme delivery for their school. The mascot will then be used in all Engage! materials, including on the website page and advertising literature.

Chantelle Braithwaite, Engage Coordinator, said:: “The mascot competition is a fantastic opportunity for children to get creative while also learning about the importance of teamwork, resilience, and community – all values at the heart of rugby.

“We want to make this a fun and engaging way for schools to connect with our programme and for young people to feel inspired to take part. We really hope that by engaging youngsters in this way, we will be able to continue improving educational and social development as well as enhancing mental wellbeing, and helping children develop the skills and behaviours necessary for further education and employment.

“We can’t wait to see the amazing designs and the enthusiasm from children across Coventry and Warwickshire.”

The programme recently received £35,000 in funding to continue its work in promoting positive mental wellbeing. This funding enabled the programme to keep delivering its Values and Flourish sessions, alongside the School 2 Club Programme as well as a series of upcoming festivals and competitions.

Through its work, Engage! aims to improve the educational, physical, and emotional development of children and young people across the city.

Entry for the competition closes on 31 January 2025. Submissions can be made by emailing engage.enquiries@cvlife.co.uk
