Xcel Leisure Centre welcomes babies and children up to their 5th birthday (last day of their 4th year).

Ratio Number

For health and safety reasons, all out soft play areas have a maximum number of places available at any one time as we have strict staff ratios.

Child Protection policy

The Creche follows the guidelines laid down by OFSTED. It is the policy of this establishment to show an awareness of the need for safety and well being for each child in our care.

Should we feel any cause for concern we will act immediately in an appropriate manner relevant to the circumstances at the time. on occasions this may mean contacting social services and OFSTED.

Safety

To ensure your child’s safety, please make sure we know your child is in the creche by registering, and signing your child in and out. If someone other than yourself will be collecting your child, you must let us know at the beginning of the session, this person must have a photo I.D with them.

Please could you always remember to close the door on entering and leaving the Creche. Children can stay for 90 minutes and parents must pick their children up on time.

Behaviour and Discipline Policy

Staff at the Centre believe in promoting positive behaviour, and encourage a socially acceptable level of behaviour appropriate to the children’s age. This includes self-discipline, consideration for oneself and other and the surrounding property.

Staff will alway treat the child with respect and reqard positive behaviour with praise and encouragement. The enviroment they play in will always be nurturing and safe.

Equal Opportunities

Sraff at the Centre are committed to providing equality of opportunities within the Centre and encourage children to respect and value themselves and each other using activites that reflect positively: gender, culture and disabilities. To us, individually of the child matters and is of great importance.

Clothing

Children will be provided with aprons for messy activities. Please send your child in appropriate clothes that are easily removed for toileting. This also applies for ease of movement in the soft play area where clothing, such as jeans, aren’t appropriate.

Please refrain from sending your child wearing jewellery.

The Centre does not accept any responsibility for loss or damage to clothing.

Illness

Please do not bring your child to Creche if he/she is unwell. It is upsetting both for the child, the staff and the other children. Please do not bring the child back until they are fully recovered.

In case of sickness and diarrhoea, allow 48 hours clear before the child attends.

In case of Covid, Customers must not bring their child to Creche if they or any of their household have symptoms of COVID, and follow the GOV.UK guidance on next steps.

Medical Policy

Please ensure that staff are made aware of any medical conditions/allergies and medication. The parent/guardian of children found to have head-lice will be informed in a confidential manner before leaving the session. Please do not bring children with head-lice if they have not been treated.

Food and Drink

Children are allowed drinks and snacks (fruit, etc).

Please ensure all fruit is cut into small peices (including grapes and tomatoes). Please do not send sweets, chocolate or any kind of food with nuts.

Suggestions, Compliments and Complaints

All suggestions, compliments and complaints should be recorded on the appropriate forms available from Reception. All cases will be dealt with in an appropriate manner.
