Children’s

Our Aquarius Swim School swimming lesson programme allows kids to enrol for lessons at any time. Lessons run for 50 weeks of the year, with two weeks off over the Christmas and New Year period. This allows your child to have a continual swimming experience with us.

Lessons are 30 minutes in duration, with one-hour multi-aquatic classes available for children who have progressed through all of the stages – we run a continuous assessment for all children, enabling progression at the point when all the criteria has been achieved.

The swim programme focuses on all four main strokes, water confidence and water skills. Children will develop key stroke techniques whilst working towards badges from the ASA ‘learn to swim’ pathway.

We operate a direct debit payment scheme, which is set up at the time of booking. Once set up, it will allow your child to continuously move through the programme when the teacher feels they are capable.

Coventry Sports Foundation (operated as CV Life) does not offer refunds, credit notes or change of times for any missed lessons due to due to short term illness (regular illnesses such as cold, upset stomachs, chicken pox) or holiday. Doctors/hospital letters must be provided to receive credits for lessons missed due to long term illnesses. These can be for: perforated ears, longer terms infections, surgery and injuries such as broken bones, ligaments, strains etc.

Progression

Ducklings classes are based on age range, whereas stages 1 upwards are classes based on ability. Children will progress through stages once all elements of the stage have been achieved.

Your child can progress to the next stage at any time throughout the year. Your current teacher will present your child with a progression slip which you take to reception. They will try to find you a class that is convenient for you and, if we succeed, your child will move up to the next stage the following week.

Once your child has completed a stage, they will be awarded with a badge which is available to purchase from reception.

Badges

We have a range of badges available for children to gain throughout the stages of the framework. These include ‘Stage’ badges when they complete a phase of progression, ‘Distance’ badges and ‘I Can’ Awards for the younger children.

Our Policies whilst attending lessons:

You can watch your child from our viewing galleries/areas at Centre AT7, The Alan Higgs Centre and Xcel Leisure Centre. Photography and Videos are not permitted in these areas.

Please ensure you have blue coverings on your feet when entering the changing rooms.

The poolside area should be kept clear of spectators, pushchairs and belongings during lesson times. Child’s belongings should be left in the locker’s provided during lessons and not left on poolside.

Body Belts are available to purchase at receptions. Due to hygiene reasons, we are unable to lean these. Please ensure that you put the belt on your child prior the lesson as staff will be unable to assist due to needing to start the lesson.

Lessons, unless stated, run as normal during bank holidays and half term.
