CV Life are looking to recruit an experienced individual who understands and shares a passion for PE in schools to join our successful Community Development Team. The ideal candidate will deliver high quality curriculum and extracurricular sports sessions in schools, sports centres and in the community. You will undertake all administrative records including those linked to coaching sessions, contacts, and programme development. 

A minimum of 1 recognised NGB qualification or equivalent is essential.

It is essential that the successful candidate has the ability to travel between schools and facilities during work hours. A flexible attitude to working events out of core hours is essential. The successful applicant will be required to work flexible hours.

Scope

Coventry Sports Foundation and Culture Coventry Trust are operating as CV Life, so that the scope of this Job Description as a CV Life document extends to cover the employment contracts held with either Coventry Sports Foundation or Culture Coventry Trust. 

Overall purpose and objective of the role

The purpose of this position is to assist with the organisation, development, and delivery of all aspects of the Schools PE and Community Engagement Programme.

Main duties of the role:

  1. To deliver the allocated number of coaching sessions to those schools that appear on the rota. 
  2. To plan and evaluate sessions in line with the National Curriculum. 
  3. To deliver coaching sessions in a manner that reaches the objectives of schools and community outreach programme. 
  4. To deliver coaching sessions in a manner consistent with sound coaching principles and social objectives, adhering to a project’s unit and lesson plans.
  5. To attend events, meetings, and activity promotion as directed by a manager. 
  6. To maintain all administration records relation to coaching sessions, as directed by a manager.
  7. To set up and break down equipment as necessary for sessions adhering to the correct procedures for the safe handling and storing of equipment.
  8. To ensure the adequate standards of Health and Safety considerations are always maintained in accordance with Health and Safety Policy. 
  9. To report all losses and damages. 
  10. To respond to accidents with the appropriate measures of first aid, ensuring that all records relating to accidents are completed immediately afterwards. 
  11. To perform any reasonable duties as requested by the Manager. 
  12. To continue with self-development to progress through the Community Development structure at CV Life. 
  13. To attend annual progress reviews.

Essential Knowledge and Experience

Essential Qualifications

  • At least one Level 1 NGB qualification or equivalent.
  • Emergency First Aid qualification.

  • Ability to plan & deliver high quality, varied & effective coaching sessions. 
  • Good communication skills.

Special Circumstances

  • Ability to work unsociable hours including evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays.
  • Ability to travel between sites.
  • DBS Clearance.
  • Interest in working with underrepresented and disadvantaged community groups/individuals.
