About the role:
CVLife are looking for an enthusiastic and driven Community Development Manager to help achieve our promise to invest in and further develop our work with communities. You will engage with partner organisations and communities to co-design, develop and implement high quality community and education programmes and projects. You will be responsible for identifying and applying for external funding opportunities, and managing, monitoring and evaluating the associated programmes against annual financial targets.
The successful candidate will have a passion for community engagement and experience in managing budgets, performance and a team who can successfully deliver.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Experience of community development working and project management.
- Experience of budget control and grant programme management.
- Experience of leading and managing performance of a service and a team.
- Highly organised and proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Flexibility is required to work evenings & weekends as and when required due to needs of the role.

Responsible for: Community Development and Education Team
Scope
Coventry Sports Foundation and Culture Coventry Trust are operating as CV Life, so that the scope of this Job Description as a CV Life document extends to cover the employment contracts held with either Coventry Sports Foundation or Culture Coventry Trust.
Overall purpose and objective of the role
The Education and Community Development Manager will be a pivotal role in helping CV Life to achieve its promise to invest in our work with communities. This role has responsibility to engage with communities to co-design, develop and implement high quality community and education programmes and projects. The role will be responsible for the identification of external funding opportunities and management, monitoring and evaluation of the associated programmes.
This position falls within a shared-services working arrangement agreed between the respective Boards of Directors of Culture Coventry Trust and Coventry Sports Foundation, which allows for the sharing of posts and associated services where appropriate and of benefit to the work of both organisations.
Main duties of the role:
- The ability to develop and oversee project and programmes strategically based on national, regional, local and organisational insight and strategies.
- The skill to identify and work effectively with a variety of partners to provide excellent opportunities for local communities and schools.
- The development and implementation of a framework for the commissioning of partners to deliver targeted activities.
- To adopt a co-production approach with communities in the development of programmes and activities.
- To develop, enhance and explore cross-cutting opportunities for existing CV Life education offer
- To be responsible for high quality provision of across the range of community and education projects and programmes.
- To work alongside the Head of Community Development on the production of the annual Coventry Sports Foundation Business and associated Action plans.
- The ability to successfully monitor and demonstrate the success of projects and programmes through feedback, surveys and other assessment tools to ensure that programmes achieve their objectives.
- The compiling of timely and accurate reports to satisfy the requirement of funders and effectively demonstrate impact.
- To keep up to date with trends, research and new methods with Community Development and Education.
- To be responsible for the Line management and professional development of the Community Development and Education team, adapting your style depending on the needs of your team
- The capability to review teams structures and make recommendations and manage change to achieve better community and education outcomes
- To actively promote and market all Community Development and Education services, to raise the profile of the department and demonstrate its value to target audiences.
- To be responsible for recruitment within the Community Development and Education teams , ensuring coordination with Swimming Development manager and the Education team on shared resources where appropriate.
- To develop a range of relevant key performance indicators and provide monthly and quarterly reports on the performance of community development programmes to the Head of Community Development.
- To maintain all relevant administrative records and reports and to be responsible for setting up new systems and processes relative to Community and Education programmes.
- To ensure high standards of customer care at all times, and to respond to all customer enquiries/complaints effectively and efficiently.
- To lead the planning and development of the annual budget for community development programmes.
- Responsibly for the financial controls within Community Development and the ongoing monitoring of agreed budgets and reporting on variances.
- To become a Designated Safeguarding Lead and attend all relevant training and meetings.
