Get your pink flip flops and swimming costume ready, a Barbie-themed ‘Wave Rave’ is coming to Coventry.
It’s one of the most hotly anticipated releases in recent years, but the Barbie Movie finally hits cinemas this month.
To mark the occasion, CV Life will be rolling out the pink carpet, and hosting a special Malibu Beach Party at The Wave. Essentially a Barbie-themed ‘Wave Rave’, complete with cheesy pop songs, Barbie accessories, refreshing mocktails, beach games, manicures, and much more.
Attendees are also invited to put on their best Barbie costumes, and have their photos taken in life-size Barbie and Ken doll boxes, stationed next to The Coventry Transport Museum’s pink Jaguar XJS which inspired Mattel’s range of Barbie cars in the 1990s.
And there’s an extra incentive, because whoever wins the ‘Best Dressed’ contest, will receive a complimentary manicure at Mana Spa – complete with the official OPI nail polish Barbie Collection inspired by the new movie.
The unique event will take place on July 27, a week after the film, which stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, opens to UK audiences.
The event will see three themed sessions held throughout the day and will be offered to attendees at no extra cost. Bookings are now being taken here.
Rachel Brooks, venue manager at The Wave, said: “I’m so excited to be hosting this event at The Wave.
“There is so much buzz around the film and I’m glad we’ve been able to mark its release in this way.
“The Wave’s regular sessions are loads of fun for families and thrill seekers anyway, but adding this colourful theme to it for one day will just make it that bit more special.
“I can’t wait to see how happy the event will make people lucky enough to get tickets.”
Kath Healion, operations manager for CV Life, the company which runs The Wave, said: “As we have such fantastic facilities here at The Wave, we really wanted to host something which would let people in the city unwind and indulge their love of such a popular franchise.
“Plus we have the Barbie car over at Coventry Transport Museum, which along with the selfie boxes, were really sought after at the recent MotoFest event.
“We envisage tickets selling out quickly for these sessions so I recommend getting booked up as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.”
