With the start of the school holidays, CV Life is delighted to announce the return of the HAF (Holiday, Activity and Food) programme, backed by an exciting funding grant of £167,000.
This initiative aims to provide essential support and entertainment for children across the city during the holiday period and has proven a lifeline for Coventry families.
Funded by Coventry City Council, the HAF programme offers a wide range of holiday activities and a hot meal for children who qualify for free school meals. For many parents, holidays can be a difficult time, balancing the need to keep their children entertained while managing the additional costs of feeding them, especially during the current cost-of-living crisis.
This summer, CV Life venues such as The Wave, Xcel, Alan Higgs, Moat House, Centre AT7, Coventry Transport Museum, and Herbert Art Gallery will host the programme. These venues provide various engaging activities, and for those attending camps with a pool, there is also the opportunity to learn to swim. There is also a host of day trips and events for children to look forward to.
Community Manager Wendy Jackson said: “As the biggest provider of HAF in Coventry, my team and I always look forward to the HAF Programme and the energy it brings from excited children and young people.
“This time round we’re thrilled to announce we have received around £170,000 of funding so we can continue to offer a range of opportunities for thousands of children.
“My team does an incredible job in providing fun and engaging activities for children at our leisure venues including developing skills for life such as swimming. The children always leave with huge smiles on their faces, and we receive so much positive feedback from parents who say their children have had an amazing time in a safe and welcoming environment.
“Building relationships with the families is a crucial element of this programme. It allows us to get to know them and offer support when needed. This summer, we’re expecting a fantastic turnout, thanks to the hard work of our team in creating a welcoming and interactive environment that keeps children coming back.”
Spaces are still available for this summer’s programme, so parents are encouraged to register their children and take advantage of the exciting activities and support on offer.
