Last weekend Coventry city centre played host to “Covopoly,” an event organised by Girlguiding Warwickshire based on popular board game Monopoly.
The event saw around 80 groups, each with six members, exploring the city by completing challenges and following clues at different locations. The participants, ranging from young Rainbows to adult volunteers, used QR codes to guide them between sites.
The Herbert Art Gallery & Museum was pleased to be one of the locations involved. A QR code was placed in our window, and groups registered outside the museum before starting their journey around the city.
Other participating venues included fellow CV Life sites The Wave and Coventry Transport Museum as well as Coventry University, and local shops. The event allowed the Girlguiding members to discover different parts of the city while bringing extra footfall to the area.
We were glad to support the event, which helped bring people into Coventry and raised the profile of key landmarks in the city.
Kathy Byrne, venue manager at the Herbert, said: “We were delighted to be part of the Covopoly event and welcome Girlguiding members to the museum. It was great to see so many people exploring the city and enjoying the day.
“Events like this are a fantastic way to highlight Coventry’s key landmarks and encourage visitors to engage with cultural spaces like ours.”
Michelle from Girlguiding Warwickshire said: I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone at the Herbert. Their staff were absolutely fantastic and really helped us make the event the huge success it was.”
