The Wave marked its fifth anniversary on Friday, 25 October with a special celebration event attracting hundreds of visitors.
The milestone event featured a colourful balloon arch, a specially-made cake, games and a fully booked session – not to mention the unveiling of a new mascot.
Opened in October 2019, The Wave quickly made a splash as one of the region’s top leisure attractions, offering thrilling slides, a lazy river, wave pool and a splash zone for younger children. The venue has maintained its appeal, with sessions regularly selling out due to high demand from families across Coventry and the wider region.
It wasn’t always easily sailing though – the Covid-19 pandemic brought national lockdowns within the first year of the attraction opening. However, its enduring appeal meant it was high on many people’s list of things to do once they were able to get back to normality.
Paul Breed, CEO of CV Life, which manages The Wave, said: “The Wave has become a beloved part of Coventry’s community, providing a fun environment for all to enjoy.
“Not only that, the unique design that makes it really stand out means the building has become a central part of the city’s iconic skyline.
“I’m thrilled and very proud that The Wave has managed to establish itself as one of Coventry’s leading attractions and I can’t wait to see it continue to bring joy to so many visitors.”
The festivities also introduced a new friendly face at The Wave – Olly the Octopus, the waterpark’s new mascot, who was on hand to greet guests and add to the celebration’s family-friendly atmosphere.
Kath Healion, CV Life’s Head of Operations, said: “It’s fantastic to see how much our visitors love coming to The Wave. Their enthusiasm is what makes this place so special, and we’re looking forward to many more years of making great memories together.”
Sessions are available to be booked at The Wave now – visit the website for more information.
